Elli had the most successful campaign on MAKEACHAMP raising a total of 18,000$. With the help of her supporters she was able to cover her team fees and successfully make it to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games. These Games will be very special to all her supporters as they actively participated in helping her get there!
What is more impressive than her campaign, is her story. She grew up in Sun Peaks, British Columbia where she learnt and fell in love with skiing. She was able to make it to the development team at the age of 18 and continued to climb the world rankings from there. Everything was going according to plan until she got an injury that many consider a career ender.
Elli wrote in her campaign, "In a crash during training I tore my ACL, my meniscus, and received a bone bruise so bad on my femur that it resulted in not only crushed cartilage, but also a permanent dent at the impact point at the bottom of my femur." But like a great champion, she discovered her love for the sport and bounced back stronger than ever.
Her 2013 season was her best yet as she had two 17th place finishes and a 23rd place finish at the World Cup level. Also she won races on the NCAA and NorAm circuits and finished 3rd at Canadian Nationals behind two World Cup podium finishers.
What is most amazing about Elli is her ability to balance the demands of her Civil Engineering degree in Vermon University and at the same complete the entire World Cup circuit.
She started the 2014 season strong with an 11th place finish at the World Cup in Levi, Finland. On top of that she was able to finish 4th in a Nor-Am cup. She has successfully qualified for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games. These Olympic games are going to be very special for Elli as she will be supported by her entire community of contributors - a total of 118 people contributed to her campaign (check her campaign here). Thank you to all the contributors who have helped her get to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, she is a champion regardless what happens.
